Day
3

Krissy found it hard to focus, she was suppose to be writing up her preliminary report on the event but there were still too many unknowns. She looked over the available footage once more, to see if she could learn anything new but it didn't offer up much more. She could see the scale of the event and was able to make out the silhouettes of two people rising up. She saw a satellite view of a person in the center and then the shock wave but the details were hard to make out.

She assumed Keyoko was the person who had sent out the shock wave but who was this second person? Where were they now? She had her team looking over the area and was waiting for their report but mostly she was stalling for time. Krissy knew she was going to have to report Keyoko as the cause of this storm. What happened to Keyoko after that was out of here hands… Perhaps if she could find a good reason for why she had done this, she could speak on her behalf but-

Someone entered the tent, Krissy looked up from her tablet, to see it was Burger. He walked up to her make shift desk and stood at full attention, he saluted her and said, "Survayant Rogers, Argent Dave Bruge, reporting in."

He waited for her to acknowledge him and she knew she should be happy, he was being professional but it still felt strange coming from him. She realized she'd gotten used to him always being relaxed around her. As his superior their relationship should have never happened. She shouldn't have allowed herself to cross such a line… She closed her eyes and tried to collect herself.

After what happened in Kurth...Burger had no idea what Krissy had done. He didn't realize she'd brought him back from the dead. He'd just assumed, he'd passed out and had been lucky to survive. He quickly called for backup and watched over Krissy. When backup arrived they moved Bayon to lock down. He was the first to be put under permanent stasis and Krissy was hospitalized.

After what she did, she'd fallen into a coma, it took her nearly six months to wake up and weeks after that before she could use her powers again. While she was in the hospital, her father had realized what she had done, even without her telling him. He made it clear, he wouldn't tell anyone but she had been compromised, she had to let her emotions get the better of her and she needed to end things with Burger.

She knew her father was right...he was always right. She couldn't afford to let her judgment be clouded by one person. When Burger came to see her, he was so happy she was awake, he thought it meant something that they had been the only ones to survive, he asked her to marry him. She was cold to him. She told him their relationship had meant nothing that he meant nothing to her.

She ended all contact with him and had him transferred to another unit. She tried to forget about him and buried her feelings for him deep inside. She vowed she would never let another get so close that she would never let her emotions rule her. She had a job to do, a world to protect, she couldn't afford distractions...mistakes.

She opened her eyes and finally acknowledged him "Yes Argent Bruge, what is it?"

"We have finished our first sweep of the area," said Burger

"What have you found?" asked Krissy.

"We just found two men, one of them was unconscious under a pile of rubble. Once the men dug him out, they tried to move him and found themselves becoming weak. Several of the men passed out before we realized what was happened. I ordered them to keep their distance until we can discover what's going on."

"Hmmm," said Krissy, mulling over what Burger had said. "Did this man have a stone?"

"Yes," said Dave. "It was orange."

"Orange," repeated Krissy. She put down her tablet knowing who this was "Eyo,"

He was another enemy, a most dangerous one at that. He was a devoted follower of Urel. In fact he was his second in command, the commander of Urel's armies. Krissy rubbed her temple trying to recall it all. What was his power again? She believed it was something to do with manipulating energy. Yes, he could take it and give it to others as well as expel it in bursts at times. She picked her tablet back up and looked over the protocols and counter measures, the scientist had come up with for him.

"In act O675-I, no one is to directly touch this man. Move him to the X site at once, full isolation. I want him monitored at all times, notify me as soon as he wakes up."

Burger nodded and quickly contacted the other team members, giving them her orders. Krissy still believed in giving everyone a chance but one thing she could clearly remember about Eyo, was that his unyielding loyalty to Urel. No matter how many lives they had lived, it never wavered. If Urel surrendered then he surrendered but if Urel refused to surrender Eyo would fight to the death. Perhaps things were different for once, perhaps the man he was now could be persuaded to join the government but she would not take the chance lightly. She would keep him under lock and key until the lock down team was ready. Only when he could be dipped, at a moments noticed, would she have a words with him.

When Burger finished giving out her orders, she asked, "What of this other man?"

"We had two soldiers stationed at the center, where the woman was located. They heard someone calling out from the sink hole. Apparently a man had fallen in, we are unsure of how or when just yet. He was unconscious when the recovery team pulled him out. Since he was in pretty bad shape, I authorized the medical staff to collect him and they are treating him at the X site now."

"Did the man have a stone?" asked Krissy.

"No, it was one of the reasons I authorized his medical transfer. Still, just in case, I assigned extra security," said Burger

Krissy shifted her gaze thinking, a man had survived but he wasn't one of them? How? How had he survived such an event? She supposed he could have fallen in the hole before the event and been protected but she'd looked for any signs of life. Perhaps he'd fallen into the hole after? He could be a reporter, she knew they were trying to sneak onto site. They'd already had to remove one woman who'd been wandering about. Whether he was a reporter, a survivor, another like her or something else all together, she wanted to be prepared, "I want him closely monitored as well. Find out who he is and once again notify me as soon as he wakes!"

"Yes Mam," said Burger

"Were there any others?" asked Krissy.

"No, just the woman you found earlier, that reporter we removed and the two men."

"I see…" said Krissy frowning.

She knew the area had been completely devastated but had hoped out the thousands that had been affected, there would be some survivors. "Do another full sweep and then allow the A-Sist team to take over and begin collecting bodies for identification...but keep Miers on collection, I want him to keep a close watch on the corpses for a day or so, notify me of anything out of the ordinary,"

"Like what?" asked Burger raising an eyebrow. "Zombies?" Krissy gave him a stern look and he rolled his eyes, "Yes mam."

Krissy began to pack up, "I think I'm done here, I'll be moving to the X site. Once you finish things up here, allowed the climatologists, to take a few readings and then hand the area over to the local authorities."

"Yes mam,"Burger saluted her, nodded and turned to walk out of the tent, however just before he left, he snapped "Was that professional enough for you?"

Krissy let out a heavy sigh, then said, "That will be all Mr Bruge'!"

She could see him stiffen before he said, "Yes, Survayant Rogers, UNDERSTOOD!"

He stormed out of the tent and she fell back in her chair. For a moment she just sat there. Clearly he was angry with her, bitter even...good. She'd rather him be angry then.. She ran a hand over her face, trying not to think of him in that way. He was her second, her subordinate that was all he was...all he should ever be. She needed to focus her thoughts, focus on the mission that was what mattered now.

She looked over the notes she had on Eyo and then her report. Now that Eyo had been identified, it changed things. Had Eyo attacked Keyoko? Had she been defending herself? And if Eyo had attacked her, was he doing it on his own or was he following Urel's orders.

She knew Urel, knew that he was bent on conquering everything but beyond that she recall his obsessed with Keyoko. Krissy rested a hand over her mouth, suddenly recalled a time when she and Keyoko had been hold up in an underground base. He'd hacked into their security system but they'd managed to make it to a secured panic room. He had nearly torn the walls down with his bare hands trying to get at her.

Krissy decided to hold off on her preliminary report. She needed more answers, needed to know what had happened here, more then ever. It would seem things had become quiet complicated possibly even dangerous...especially if he was really back.

Prince Edric's heart pounded in his chest as he rushed about the castle, looking for that bastard Donovan and Octavia. Just moments ago he had finally discovered Donovan's betrayal. He was suppose to be his father's advisor but had lead the King astray. He'd manipulated his father into attacking their allies and then poisoned him. Only at his father deathbed, had he realized who was behind this…

Enraged Edric had sought out Donovan, only to find him attacking his Octavia, on his father's throne. Donovan inform Edric, Octavia and the kingdom were now his. He sought to make himself King and tried to have Edric killed. Several of his own men turned on him and Edric had no choice but to fight his way to Donovan.

When they finally spared, it was clear Donovan was no match for Edric. Within minutes he struck a killing blow but that weaselly bastard released some sort of powder that blinded Edric. He had stumbled back and Donovan had pushed him over the throne room balcony. Edric fell but he'd luckily broken his fall on an old hay cart. Once he could see again, he rushed back to the throne room only to find Donovan and Octavia gone.

He knew Donovan was dying and couldn't have gotten far. He followed a trail of blood into one of the towers and hurried up the stairs. When he finally burst to the top of the tower, he saw the stars were just coming out. He looked to see them sitting against a wall. Donovan was slumped over with Octavia on his lap. Edric knew she wouldn't...she wouldn't do such a thing willingly. He rushed to her but already knew, he already knew she was gone before his hands touched her.

Still, he dropped to his knees and pulled her lifeless body into his arms. She still felt warm but he could feel the heat leaving her. He shook her, slapping her, hoping he was wrong. He called out to her begging, pleading for her to open her eyes but she didn't. Through tear soaked eyes, he could see the deep bruises on her neck, the marks of that bastard. He had killed her...

Edric lifted his head and roared out with pain. He had lost so much, he had lost so much but he couldn't lose her. NOT HER! He didn't care that she was just a servant, the daughter of his families baker. They had always been friends, they had grown up together, running through the castle as children. A part of him always knew one day he would marry her, he never wanted their adventure to end. No matter their stations, no matter what his family said, he loved her. He realized now, he should have just taken her and left but he had waited, hoping his father would change his mind and bless their union.

Now she was gone…gone…. He pulled her into him shaking with anguish, he found he couldn't accept it, he wouldn't let her go. He just kept holding her, hoping she would open her eyes and smile up at him once more. He called out her name again and again as he rocked her. He tangled his fingers in her hair and then he felt something, a sharp pain at the back of his head. In his grief he hadn't noticed someone coming up behind him. Again there was pain and then nothing but darkness…darkness and then light, a hand-

He gasped, opening his eyes, his heart thundered in his chest, he felt like it was going to explode. It was dark, he couldn't see anything. He sat up wondering if he was in bed but no, this didn't feel like his bed or even the couch, something fell against his face, a strange fabric. He found it hard to breath as the air around him grew thin. He moved his arms and grasped hold of the fabric. He tried to pull it off him but quickly found he was trapped within it. He tore at the fabric, struggling to get it off him as his air grew scarce. It took a few seconds but he managed to rip it open and get his head out.

He breathed in deeply, catching his breath before looking about. He appeared to be in some sort of room. There were body bags everywhere, he quickly realized he was in one of them. He struggled out of it, falling to the floor. He quickly staggered to his feet confused, he ran his hands through his hair, trying to recall what had happened. He'd been holding Octavia in his arms...she was...she was- No that wasn't it. That was a dream, wasn't it? He'd been- He'd been, his mind flashed with more confusion. He realized he wasn't Edric...not anymore, he was...he was-

His eyes widened, he looked at the body bags again and then realized he'd been dead. "Shit!" he hissed running a hand over his face. He quickly moved his hands over his chest and then rubbed his neck, he could still feel the pain. He could even recall how the back of his head had felt when he was Edric, even though that had to be...so long ago. A whole lifetime, he tried to clam down, to think but he- all of it came flooding back to him. He…he had to get home! HE HAD TO GET TO HER!

He stumbled out of the room and into a hallway. He saw someone coming and darted into a nearby room, hiding from them. He couldn't afford to be stopped, not now. When they passed, he kept walking but noticed the blood on his shirt, surely someone else would notice it too. He saw some lab coats, hung up along a wall and took one.

He put it on and somehow managed to make his way outside. He took a moment and figured out where he was. Thankfully he wasn't too far from home, he didn't have any money so he had to walk. After a few block he grew impatient, he burst into a run and practically ran the whole way. He almost couldn't believe his stamina. He hadn't run since college and even then he'd never been this fast. He was defiantly different now.

When he drew close to home something was wrong. In the sky, he couldn't find his building. He knew where it was, knew where it should have been but it wasn't there. It was missing along with several other building that had been nearby. He ran a hand over his mouth confused. Had he been mistaken? Had he gotten his directions wrong? Building didn't just disappear...he looked around and recognized a few shows they'd gone to, no this...this was it...this was the way home.

He kept going but found he could only get so close. When he was a few blocks away, he found the entire area was closed off to civilians. There were people everywhere talking about what had happened, entire blocks of the city had been destroyed, including his home.

He stumbled about looking for answers. He needed answers, he couldn't lose her not again...he couldn't. He stumbled by a bar and went inside, he needed a drink. He rushed up to the counter only to realize yet again he didn't have any money, he didn't have his wallet. He pulled back and went to leave but something caught his eye. The TV was showing his building on the news, he watched them get ripped apart by a giant tornado. Somehow he just knew it had been her. She had done this! He watched an earlier helicopter view of the wreckage, it said there were still no survivors.

His eyes lit up and he stumbled out of the bar. He staggered into a nearby alley, vomiting. He shook with anguish, horror. She couldn't be gone...she couldn't be... He recalled holding Octavia's lifeless body in his arms. His mind rattled with images of Genoa...Genoa falling to the floor after that...THAT- His eyes lit up! He realized who Jesep was NOW. THE SHADOW MAN...THE SHADOW MAN. "The shadow man." he hissed between his clenched teeth.

He began to breath heavily as he recalled Genoa looking up him, desperately pleading with him, the night she had tried to leave . "DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND! ONE DAY HE'LL COME FOR ME! HE'LL DESTROY EVERYTHING! I HAVE TO GO! I HAVE TO-"
"NO! I'll help you! I WONT LET HIM GET YOU! I WONT LET ANYONE HURT YOU! JUST PLEASE COME BACK INSIDE WITH ME!" He had thought she was sick...had gone crazy, who could blame her after what had happened. The things she was saying...they were just to help her cope… They weren't real...they weren't-

"No...No... NO!," he pounded his fist against the brick wall, cracking several of the bricks. He pulled back and looked at his hand. There wasn't a mark on it, he realizing he was stronger now too. He put his back to the brick wall, this wasn't happening. THIS wasn't real! He was having some sort of mental break down or something, clearly he was-

His eyes welled up with tears, he went to wipe his face, when he saw the marks, the signs of infinity on the palms of his hands, just like in her paintings. He'd hung enough of them in her room over the years to know the signs...It was real...it was happening again. JUST LIKE SHE'D SAID! Only this time she was and he was-"FUCK! FUCK! FUCCCCCCCCCK!"

In his anguish, he let out a surge of electricity. Sparks flew out of him, connecting to the cities power grid, it quickly overpowered it, turning the entire city dark. He dropped to his knees then as the sky began rumbled and it started to rain. For the longest time he just sat there, realizing what had happened. Finally as backup generators began to switch on, he got to his feet, he clenched his fists knowing he couldn't stay here forever, he needed to find her…find him!
