1-Once awakened the time it takes to get their memories and powers back can vary. Alot of it can depend on, the body they were reborn in, the environment and how many others are awakened already at the time. Like if 19 of the cursed are awakened wherever the twentieth is will automatically awaken.
Sometimes it can take months even years to come close to their former selves(if given enough time) or the process can be sped up. For this life, the solar system they were in had extra qualities that sped up their process. Being around each other also helped speed things up. With any memory certain events can unlock them. Running into an old friend, smelling something etc.
2 Warning- Some of you guessed it but Luka is her brother in this life(Harold). Though in this life he was adopted by her parents and they later had her and her little brother. (As you know her little brother passed in the car crash that awakened her.)They don't know that though he was really young when he was adopted and has ginger hair like the family. But yeah the cursed can be siblings, so far I've show Sess, Keyoko and Gigi were sisters and of course Coarse Love. Also note while they can be siblings and cousins, a cursed can never be the parent of cursed their they lack the souls/essense. Though they could still be an be adoptive parent or a step parent through marriage. Anyway I wanted to give you the chance to bow out. Once again every character is not real and is only fictionalized.
Now.
Cursed
Consequences
Everything has consequences...
Every action we take or don't take, ripples out around us in ways we can't even imagine…
Part 1
Two years, seven months before Keyoko's storm
Krissy Rogers' heart raced with excitement as she made her way across a large open field. In the distance she could see another, to say he was a man, would be an understatement. He was twice the size of any normal man, with inhuman strength, he was Bayon. At last after all these years, Krissy had found another cursed.
Ever since Krissy was a child, she had the ability to manipulate time. Her grandmother had been the first to notice. Every summer Krissy would spend time with her, at her home in the country. They would garden, do crafts and bake various goods. Oh how Krissy had loved to watch her grandmother bake, be it pies, cookies or cakes. Of course her favorite part, had always been eating the creations her grandmother made.
One afternoon, when Krissy was about five, her grandmother had made one of her famous Rabani pies. It was said that Krissy had wanted to eat it so badly that she'd planted herself in front of the oven to watch the timer. On that particular day, the pie had only been in the oven five minutes, when the timer had gone off. Her grandmother hadn't even finished cleaning up, when Krissy hopped around the kitchen, saying it was done.
Her grandmother thought Krissy had messed with the timer. She reset it and then opened the oven to show Krissy the pie was far from done. Yet when her grandmother had looked at the pie, she found it was indeed done. She pulled it out and couldn't believe her eyes. She didn't understand how such a thing could have happened but soon found it was the first of many strange events to come.
Over the next few months, her grandmother noticed a series of strange instances, in which time either sped up or slowed down. Eventually, she realized Krissy was somehow effecting the flow of time. She got Krissy's parents together, which given their busy schedules was an event in itself. Krissy's mother, Luciilla Rogers, was a top government official and her father, Avery Rogers was a high ranking Greegis. They barley had a moment to spare between them but her grandmother knew neither of them would believe what Krissy could do, unless she showed them.
She had a pie already made when they arrived at her house. She showed it to Krissy's parents and put it in the oven. She told Krissy to make it done and they all watched the timer speed up on the oven until the pie came out bakes as can be. Her mother had been shocked but her father was still skeptical, he examined the oven, thinking it was some sort of trick. Her grandmother knew her father could be stubborn so she pulled out an orange and cut it in half. She gave the two halves to Krissy and asked her to make it whole again.
He watched as Krissy took the orange in her tiny hands, she reversed time until it was a whole again. He couldn't deny his daughter had abilities after that. Of course neither of her parents had been happy about it. They knew what became of such people in their lines of work. For days they had arguing about what they should do, if they should hide Krissy's abilities or inform the government.
In the end, her father took control of the situation, he used his rank and connections, to get in touch with the right people. They created a special, top secret division, to investigate Krissy's powers and see how they could be used to assist the government. Her father believed, if Krissy could be seen as an asset rather than a threat, she might have some semblance of a life…
A life...a life, she'd anything but since the day she was inducted into the government's care. For years military scientist studied Krissy, testing the limits of her abilities, to see how they could be used to better Urutha's government. They soon discovered along with her ability to manipulate time, she also had memories of former lives. She had a knack for inventing and could recall various technologies, from other times and places. She helped the scientist recreate these technologies and advanced the military's capabilities.
As she grew up, her memories became stronger and more vivid. She began to recall the curse and realized she was not alone, there were other out there like her. At first she was excited, she helped the government build files on the others, hoping to find them. Then one day, she remember...Urel.
It was just before her twelfth birthday, the base she was staying at was hit by a really bad storm. She was able to see the dark clouds coming from miles away. They reminded her of another time, another life. She had once lived in a great city of advancement. One day the clouds had darkened and a stranger had come from afar. He met with the leaders of her people and he gave them a choice, to surrender and join him or refuse and suffer the consequences. Her people had refused to bow down to him and cast him and his companions, out of the city.
The carnage that had followed, scarred Krissy's young mind. After that she began to recall life after life, of Urel and his reign of terror. He was an all consuming, dark plague that destroy anything that got in his way. She came to fear shadows...came to fear his awakening. She told her father and the scientist, everything she could about Urel, hoping to avoid his reckoning. Perhaps if they knew he was coming, they could do something about it.
She worked closely with the military scientist and they came up with a plan of action. They developed lock down protocols, not just for Urel but for any cursed that should return and become a threat. Anyone who was like Krissy, would be given a chance to join Urutha's government or stand down. If they did not comply and were considered a threat, they were to be neutralized and put into stasis, using a substance Krissy had remembered called Seduroam. It was a thick gel that could suspend people in a perpetual state of limbo. They neither lived, nor died, slept nor woke, they were simply frozen in time until they were removed from the gel.
Krissy also worked hard, training her abilities and developing technologies to bolster Urutha's defenses. When she was old enough, her father had her join the military. She went through the full training, and advanced quickly. By the time she was in her early twenties, she'd made rank and had many accolades but not a single friend.
She often found herself being talked about rather then too. Most people thought she'd only gained her position through nepotism and those that knew of her abilities feared her. Krissy did her best to ignore the rumors and leers. She mostly stayed to herself, preparing for the day, when Urel or another would arise. After everything she did, all her dedication to hard work, she thought she was prepared, ready for anything...
Finally, at last, the day she'd been waiting for came. Reports of a large man with incredible strength, came flooding in from the Kurth region. Krissy instantly thought of Bayon, his power was strength. From her memories, she knew he was usually big and quiet strong. She found out he'd been reborn in a small village name Cura, in the Kurth region of Urutha. His name in this life was Rand Almin.
When he was nineteen, he started a small gang, for years they'd been ransacking the nearby villages and towns. When they successfully attacked a city, he and his gang showed up on the military's radar. They sent in a small team to deal with them but only one man survived. He'd managed to collect a video, showing Rand's rampage. After the military saw it, Krissy and her team were contacted.
She watched the video and confirmed that he was a cursed. A few days later, they were sent in to deal with Rand. The military hoped he could be persuaded him to join Urutha's government as Krissy had. She doubted Bayon would surrender, from what she could recall he mostly worked for Urel. Still, there were a few times when he had peacefully coexisted with them and rarer still, where he had worked with them. She hoped she could reason with him and this could be one of those times.
Krissy also had to admit, she was excited to see another like her, to not be alone anymore. When the helicopter drew close, a strange sensation came over her, she could sense him and he her. They flew around the area and saw he'd come out onto a field, alone. She ordered the helicopter to land nearby and then sent it away.
She continued to make her way across the field and he met her half way. The two sized each other up and she called out to him, "Bayon!"
"Jeza," he nodded.
Her heart soared to be called by her true name, "Yes," she said. "How are you?"
"Good enough," he grumbled. "What do you want?"
"I work for the government of Urutha, they know all about us. I am here to offer you a chance to surrender and join the government as an asset."
Bayon stared at her and then rubbed his jaw, looked out at the field. He eyed the helicopter circling in the distance before he asked "Is he back?"
She knew who he meant. She clenched her fists and responded "No... not yet,"
"Hmp," he leaned back and began to stretch, "I only server him."
"Please," said Krissy taking a step forward. "There are some times where you have not. Where you have fought against him, can you remember."
"I remember and this isn't one of those times. It's him or me, I serve no one else."
"Please Bayon, if you do not surrender, I will have no choice but to take you down," said Krissy
Bayon let out a mighty chuckle and then responded, "I'd like to see you try, It's been a while since I had a decent fight."
Before Krissy could say another word, he shifted his body weight and came barreling at her. She had known what to expect, had prepared herself for years, yet it was one thing to recall something, from long ago and another to see it happening right before your very eyes. She was so dumb struck that he almost got her.
Krissy's team had been on high alert, they set off several missiles before opening fire on him. It sent him back but did little to damage him. It was like hitting him with fire works and peas. Krissy scrambled to escape, his incoming blows. She felt the ground rattle underneath her each time his fist missed her and hit the ground.
She got some distance between them before she turned, bursting into action, she raise her hands and froze him in mid stride. He took up such a large area that she knew, she wouldn't be able to hold him for long. Her team came rushing in, to assist and then everything went to shit.
Bayon's gang had been hiding under various holes in the ground. They ambushed her and her team, reigned fire down upon them. She had to split her attention between holding Bayon and slowly the bullets that came flying at her. She had to move every few seconds, to avoid taking damage, worst of all, she was unable to assist her team.
She watched as they were slaughter right before her very eyes until only one remained. Of all the people, it was Burger, her heart leapt as he rushed to her. He had the neutralizer and quickly attached it to Bayon. Krissy was able to let him go, he fell to the ground and she moved out of the path of the bullets. She helped Burger take out the rest of Bayon's gang and somehow they managed to survived.
When the gun fire, finally stopped, Burger rushed to her and embraced her. People had always treated her differently, judged her because of her parents, abilities and rank. Yet Dave Bruge, Burger was the exception. From the moment they'd first met he had a smile on his face, a glimmer in his eye. She could still recall the first mission they'd had together, he'd been at ease around her, friendly even. When they weren't on mission, he joined her at meal time and talked to her about sports and movies. He'd talk to her like they'd been friends for the longest time.
It caught her off guard and she found herself agitated, she wasn't sure what to do at first but eventually corrected him, making it clear she was his superior and he was her subordinate that he couldn't speak to her with such familiarity. But Burger… Burger paid her no mind, he had a thick skull and kept trying to reach out to her, even when she punished him with laps and extra duty, he still always had a smile on his face, when she walked into a room and a story to tell.
She began to think, hope... he might be like her. He reminded her of her soul mate, Paten. She found they had similar traits so she tested him, yet time and time again, he showed no signs of being, a cursed. She realized after a while it was was probably just wishful thinking on her part, he was nothing more than a normal man, a soldier.
She tried to move on and ignore him but he was always there. He kept getting assigned to her missions, whether by chance or on purpose, she wasn't sure but he was always ready to lend a helping hand or talk her ear off. After a while, she found she liked having normal conversations. She began to like the familiarity between them a bit too much and before she knew it had developed real feelings for him.
Burger rushed to her, he tangled his finger into her hair and kissed her. It was the first time he'd ever kissed her out in the open. She quickly pushed him away looking around, "Burger this isn't-"
"I'm sorry," he cut her off. She could see tears in her eyes, "When I saw him charging towards you, I thought you were done for,"
"Thanks for the confidence," she said crossing her arms.
"I saw the video, he snapped a man in half, like it was nothing." said Burger.
"And you think I couldn't?" she said.
"NOT THAT LIKE," said Burger, his eyes went wide recalling the video, he shook he head and she stifled laughed. It was inappropriate considering the situation. Yet Burger always had a way of putting her at ease, getting her to let go. Their eyes locked and he moved in to kiss her once again. This time she let him...only for a moment...only for a moment.
They'd lost their entire team, nearly lost each other, she let herself get emotional, she slipped up, let her guard down when she should have been paying attention. One of Bayon's men was still alive, with the last of his breath he threw a grenade. It sent Krissy and Burger flying back, for several minutes, she couldn't hear anything. She'd been hit and was bleeding but it was nothing compared to Burger, he'd taken the brunt of the damage and quickly succumbed to injuries.
She dragged herself over to him. She knew all of this was was her fault...her team...Burger. She'd let her guard down with Bayon and they'd all payed the ultimate price. She tried to stay strong, tried to focus on finishing the mission, but seeing Burger, Dave, laying in pieces on the ground, something inside her had snapped.
A part of here still thought, still hoped he might be Paten, that he'd just wake up. It didn't always happen but she knew sometimes, their first deaths could trigger an awakening. She waited…with bated breath until it hit her, he was dead, he wasn't coming back...he was gone...gone. The closet thing she had to a friend...a lover. Her heart swelled with such emotions.
She ran her hands over him and used everything she had to reverse time on his body. It was against the rules. she wasn't suppose to use her powers for her own purposes. Above all, she wasn't suppose to prioritize one person over any other but she didn't care. She just wanted him back, she just wanted him back... Burger let out a gasp as he came back to life. He opened his eyes and she passed out.
