Part 10
Night
10

After Luka gained control of himself, he'd sought to discover what had happen to Keyoko and the others. He knew they couldn't be dead. He ran to the public library, where he watched news report after new report. There was lot he couldn't see, a lot of footage was at a distance or blurred. He kept seeing the military everywhere.

He went back out to the site and watched the military. After an hour or so he stole a car and followed one of their trucks, twenty or so miles out of town, to what looked like a military base. It wasn't easy getting in. Over the years he'd played a lot of video games but they were nothing compared to the real thing. Thankfully eons of sneaking into places came back to him.

He incapacitated a shoulder with a rather intense shock and stole his uniform. From there, he blended in, it helped that he'd been in the military many times before. Not every military was the same but he knew enough to get him into the base. When he was able to, he broke off and tried to find the others.

At one point he could start to feel them when he was getting close. He realized they'd be able to sense him coming and quickly pushed his stone back into his chest. He knew that could block their sense of him. With his stone put away the memories of his former lives were less powerful. It made things a little harder getting around, especially since his current memories were so vivid.

He kept thinking about what had happened to Genoa. He kept thinking how he'd messed up. He'd just let the others into their home. He'd left Genoa alone with that bastard and he'd...he'. It was a lot to come to terms with. He did his best to shove it to the back of his mind. He kept telling himself it was his to turn…his turn to get payback and he didn't mean jail.

He kept himself busy waiting for his moment. everyone was really tired around the base, they'd been working a double shifts even triple shift. One guy needed a break and Luka offered to watch the cameras, pretending he was just cleaning. He was able to get a better view of the base. He quickly realized all the footage was on a loop. He wished he knew how to hack into the real feed but that was Keyoko's thing.

When video guy came back, Luka tried to make his way lower in the base. He moved down the stair well, carrying a bucket and grumbled about having to work overtime. Most people left him the fuck alone. Every time he ran into a place that needed a card he'd just zap it and it would let him through. He managed to get a radio at one point and kept it on.

When the alert went out for the lower floors, he realized Urel was not only up but out. As everyone moved into lock down positions, he tried to get to Geona but he couldn't find her. He heard the loud speakers call her, to the command center.

It took him a few minutes to get there, at one point Keyoko called out to him. He didn't know how she knew he was there. Maybe she didn't, maybe he was just in range now and she'd been calling out this whole time, either way he didn't respond. He wanted to limit their contact as much as possible.

He planned to lay low and see if he could take them out one at a time or at least take Eyo out. He knew he could drain his energy, if he wasn't careful. He also had to be careful not to forget about Gigi. He was disgusted with himself, when he realized he'd been attracted to her. True he hadn't gotten out much in this life and but still. He should have realized what a two faced bitch she was.

He heard screams coming from the command center and realized he couldn't wait, especially when he heard Genoa. Whenever she cried he couldn't ignore it. It really got to him, he realized now as he took his stone out it wasn't just this life. She always had a way of getting to him when she cried. He stormed into the room and was surprise by what he saw. Eyo was missing a hand, Gigi was screaming, her arm seemed intact but she was still clutching it and there was a lot of blood. Keyoko was on the floor, Urel was beating the shit out of her.

Luka paused for a moment, everything inside him wanted him to got to her first. He wanted to tear Urel apart but he needed to be smart about this. Urel was distracted, whether Luka liked his distraction or not, it gave him time to focus on the other two. He honed in on his first target, Eyo. He knew he was the most dangerous.

He quickly charge him, Eyo was so focused on his arm that he almost didn't notice Luka. He turned at the last minute and pulled from his attack. He called out, "UREL!" as he tried to pull his morning star from his stone. Luka didn't give him the chance, he didn't miss his second attack. He plunged his sword deep into Eyo's chest, sending him back and to the ground.

Gigi screamed as she saw Luka. He glared right at her. He couldn't tell if she knew who he was with the mask on. He knew she could read people, he hoped she read the murder in his eyes. Whether she knew him or not, he didn't care. The main thing is that Keyoko didn't find out.

His plan was to take care of these three and make sure she got to safety. After that he'd make sure these three didn't come back maybe hunt the others down hadn't planned out that far. He didn't really want to think about it knowing whatever he did was gonna be hard without Genoa, Keyoko. It was weird to him they were two different people yet that same either way, he'd miss them both.

As Luka came at Gigi, Urel sent his shadow out getting up from Keyoko. Luka turned making quick work of him. He shot off a bolt of lighting injuring him. The shadow wailed in pain, shooting out black tar like shit everywhere before retreating. He could see Urel had forgotten Luka could injure his shadows. Urel pulled out his gun and tried to fire on him. Luka already had his hand raised, as soon as he saw Urel reach for his gun. Luka diverted the bullets sending them into the wall. He roared out waiting to see what he sent next. Right now he was on the top of his game. HE WASN'T GOING TO LOSE THIS TIME!

Urel wasn't about to lose, but everything was turning to shit. Getting control of the command center was a piece of cake. It had a lot of soldiers stationed outside it. They were coming up with a plan of attack, even though their leaders were missing. Gigi hid them rather well, when they came up in the elevator, people looked only saw an empty elevator as before.

He listened in on their meeting for nearly a minute before they opened fire on them. Most of them were sitting ducks. They'd all been paying attention to "the plan." It hadn't been a bad plan, he would have made a few adjustments, it probably would have taken out most people out but they weren't most people.

They were able to weave in and out of sight with Gigi's illusions. She watched from the corner of the room and stayed reasonably safe. The command center itself had locked themselves down behind several reinforced doors. Urel and Eyo made quick work of it, prying it open like a tin can. Then it was another blood bath. Bullets flew and they got hit a few times but their armor protected them for the most part. After that Urel got into the system and worked his magic. He made sure everything was secure, turned off the alarm and ordered Keyoko to come to him.

It was weird watching her on the camera and also being next to her at the same time. He found he could move back and forth between himself and then shadow, mind you Atoe wasn't the best view things were a bit cloudy. It was like wearing mesh over ones eyes but Keyoko had stood out like a blinding light. when he saw her through the shadows gaze. He couldn't wait for her to get her up here. He watched her dragging her feet and when it looked like she wanted to run he made it clear she'd better not. Once he was sure she was coming they set up a plan. Gigi pretended to be him, he and Eyo hid not far off under one of her invisibility illusions. The plan was to lure Keyoko in, keep her focused, disracted on Gigi until Eyo could touch her. He didn't want a repeat of the other day, though he knew she wouldn't be able to muster that kind of power again for some time.

Once Eyo drained her, he was going to take her off to the side and spend a few minutes releasing some building tension. Yet the CUNT had to go and fuck it all up. Somehow she knew they were coming. He knew she had perception to a certain point but it was more then that. It was like she knew just what Eyo was gonna do. She took off his fucking arm. He tried to grab her but she threw him back.

Gigi went to assist Eyo and he waited for another chance to move in on her. She kept throwing that damn chakram around. The fucking cunt, HE'D GIVEN IT TO HER FOR PROTECTION! Not for her to use against him and the others. His hopes for her compliance in this life were beginning to diminish. He realized they were going to have to have a lot of "talks" To be fair, he liked it when she submitted but part of him also liked it when she fought. There was something about breaking her down, putting her in her place again and again that got him off.

When she threw her chakram at Gigi, it was time to start cracking down. He summoned his shadow and used to pull Keyoko's feet out from under her. He knew he'd broken her ankle but that wasn't the only thing he was gonna break. His urge to fuck quickly turned to one of carnage. He was in the process of having a little talk with her, when Eyo suddenly called out to him. If he hadn't, Urel might not have known Luka was back and there.

When it came to Keyoko, whether he was fucking her or beating the living shit out of her, she had a way of taking up his full attention. Gigi screamed and he sent out Atoe…a mistake he realized only after a lighting bolt tore through him. He made a second mistake when pulled his gun out unloading it on Luka. He simply sent the bullet into the wall behind him. It would seem he was on his game.

No matter...from this point on Urel wasn't making any more mistakes. He summoning his ax and the two stared each other down. A moment later they charged one enough their sword and ax clashed, near the center of the room and they reignited their immortal battle once more.

Keyoko rolled on her side, spitting up blood, her mouth was filling with it. She could only see out of one eye. She watched as Urel and Luka battled one another. It was pretty much like the first fight she'd seen. She supposed that wasn't real though. She wasn't sure what she was thinking. She just hoped Luka would kick Urel's ass this time and then...they could be together again.

She smiled thinkingthinking of being reunited with the one she loved. It hurt but she liked the thought. She longed to hold him in her arms and...she felt herself nodding off a bit. Urel swung his ax and Luka jumped back avoiding him before he lunged. Angry Urel swung wildly, slashed, he try to get Luka but he kept managing to just pull back. He changed the angle of his swings and went for speed over power. He was able to swipe Luka across the test. He cried out and staggered back.

Keyoko opened her eye seeing Luka had been injured. The two danced around each other blocking and attacking. It looked like Luka had the edge then Urel then Luka. Keyoko felt a little sick watching them it was almost dizzying how they moved about. Urel swung his ax, Luka avoid it, then drop down and swiped his sword. He managed to cut Urel's legs up. Keyoko wiped the blood from her mouth, thinking that was new.

All of a sudden Urel looked like he was going to swing his ax but changed it up last second and instead of using the top of his axe he used the bottom. He rushed forward jabbing the razer sharp point into Lukas shoulder like he was hitting a ball on a pool table. Luka cried out as it impaled him. He struggled free of it and rushed back so fast he could nearly falling over.

Keyoko sat up, she felt her then. She was in her area, moving in on Luka, just like last time. GIGI! Keyoko had almost forgotten about her. Luka was clutching his shoulder, he just narrowly avoided another of Urel's attacks. He wasn't paying attention. It was gonna happen again. 'NO! NO! NO! IT WASN'T!' thought Keyoko. She was in a lot of pain, a lot but she forced herself to fling her arms out. She lifted Gigi and threw her into the back of Urel, making him fall forward.

Urel drop to one knee to gain back his balance. He lowered his ax for only a moment. Luka darted forward and slice his throat with his blade. In a second the tables had been turned, things hadn't worked out exactly how she'd planned but Keyoko hadn't really had a plan.

Urel's eyes went wide, he clasped at his throat in disbelief he didn't lose, he didn't f-

Gigi struggled to get her illusion back on but she was panicking, her mind wasn't focused and Luka was able to come up to her but this bitch was Keyoko's "SHE'S MINE!" Keyoko sputtered. Luka stumbled back and Keyoko summoned her chakren. Keyoko sent it flying, this time she put some effort into it. She sent it flying into her head, right between the bitches eyes. When she saw Gigi was down Keyoko collapsed back on the ground.

Luka rushed to her. "ARE YOU OKAY!"

She coughed sputtering up more blood "Are you okay!" she spat

"No," he chuckled.

"At least this time your alive!" said Keyoko.

"Alive?"

"Long story," said Keyoko. She reached out to him from the ground. She expected him to take her hand but he didn't. He turned away from her.

"Luka," she called confused. "What's wrong."

He kept his back to her. "When your able, I need you to get up and get out of here."

"What?" said Keyoko even more confused.

"You heard me." said Luka there was a sharpness in his tone.

"Why…" she gasped painfully. "I don't understand."

"You don't need to understand. I want nothing to do with you in this life...it's as simple as that."

"What," she cried "What did I do?"

He'd pushed her away before but there was always a reason. It was usually a crap reason in her opinion. They'd usually waste time fighting but eventually make up. She'd really like to skip the fighting part and just go straight to the love you forever and ever part. She painfully struggled to sit up. She wasn't going to give up on him, on them so easily. She got to her feet and could tell her ankle wasn't the only broken thing. She struggled with the pain but managed to get close to him. She reached out to touch him. As soon as her hand brushed him he jerked away.

"DONT! DON'T TOUCH ME! JUST PLEASE! GO! Just go..." Luka voice cracked as he spoke, his tone changed from angry to pleading. She could hear such emotion tear through him.

"Luka" she softly cried, needed to understand.

"Please Keyoko, please for once just listen and do as I say. Please just let this be." She could see he was shaking slightly. She wasn't sure if it was from his shoulder wound or the emotion.

She choked not wanting to go "Luka."

"Key," He pull away hard, it was clear he was done.

She stumbled about for nearly a minute, finding it hard to walk on a broken ankle. She felt hurt, confused. She started to head for the door but stopped. She turned back calling out "Jeza she's back, she's around her somewhere. They killed her I don't know how but-"

"I'll find her. After I finish cleaning up here. Don t worry about it. Don't worry about anything. I got this." said Luka refusing to look at her.

Keyoko paused there was something about his voice the way he spoke suddenly sounded familiar.. She was so caught up in everything that she almost missed it his voice. She...she swore she knew that voice.

"What was that?" she asked needing to hear him again.

"I said I got this, now go!"

"I got this...I got this...I got...this….I GOT THIS! She stumbling back, the way he said it. Her chest began to ache, thinking of her brother. He used to say that no, no, she paused taking in the thought, it couldn't be still she choked "Harold?"

Luka stiffened, Keyoko realized it was him. She began to sob. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore it trying to press on but he could never ignore Genoa when she cried nor Keyoko. The wall he'd been struggling to upkeep fell down. Keyoko reached out to him sensing he was near. He found her hand and the two hugged each other tightly.

Keyoko trembled with emotion wailing, "I thought...you- YOU " she sobbing, she was so happy to have her brother back. For a moment she forgot herself, forgot about the curse, forgot about Keyoko and Luka. They were just Genoa and Harold. She held him for the longest time and the deep well of sadness in her heart, started to filled. She was so relieved so grateful to know he was still alive and that-

Harold let go of her and pulled back, Keyoko reached out to him but then pulled her hand back as it hit her. She moved her hand to her mouth, realizing nothing would ever be the same between them. She now knew why Luka had tired to push her away, without a reason. She sobbed as this new realizing, her love, her soulmate, and her big brother, the only family she had left, were all one in the same. She felt sick, knowing they could never be together, not as Harold and Genoa and not as Luka and Keyoko.

"It's not fair." she choked "It's not fair."

"I know," he said clearly having come to the conclusion before her.

Luka moved back but she didn't want to let him go, not just yet painfully went to him. Her ankle was killing her but she didn't care. She pulled him back into her arms "I know" he just kept saying as he let her hug him again. "I know,"

Luka closed his eyes "Once were, out of here, I want you to go far, far away. We...we just wont see each other...wont be near each other and it will all be okay."

"No." she gasped, "I can't! I can't let you go not again I...I-"

"You can," said Luka.

He opened his eyes and grasped hold of the sides of Keyoko's face. He looked her in the eyes. "We can and we will let go. You and I both know, the longer were around each other, the more powerful this will get. I will always love you. YOU! No matter how far, no matter how long it is before we meet again. Remember that I love you and I want you to have beautiful life."

She reached out feeling his mask it was wet with tears. She ran her fingers over and cried. "I love you, I love you sooooo much. Every you did for me. I know I wasn't easy. Heh I know I'm never eary. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I couldn't save you."

"Hey, hey, you tried to warn me countless times. I wouldn't listen" he sniffled "Don't blame yourself. It's okay."

"You didn't know," said Genoa "You couldn't have really known until you knew."

Luka nodded understanding, for a moment, he slipped he leaned into her and touched her forehead with his. The barriers between them slipped away and he felt such joy, to be with the one he loved most in all of existence. She too felt the same joy, their heart beat as one.

Luka held her for a moment, feeling them pull into one another. Their lips drew dangerously close. It was hard but he managed to pull free and shoved her back. Keyoko stumbled back and almost fell. When she caught her balance, she didn't try to reach out or grasp hold of him again.

She understood now, understood why they could not be together. She turned her head away. She pushed herself to hobble off. She vowed to hold it together until she was alone in the elevator. When she got into the hall, the elevator doors opened. She saw soldiers in masks with guns. She quickly turned and hobbled back into the command room.

She saw Luka on the ground. He'd removed his mask, his head was down. She could see it was just as hard for him. He looked up seeing she'd come back, "DAMN IT, KEY." he spat.

"Soldiers," she cried, hobbling over to him.

He looked past her to see a dozen or so soldiers moved into the hall. He motioned for her to get behind him and she did. "Luka what are we-"

"Shhhh," he said.

Keyoko nodded and then she was hit with the first wave of thoughts. She sunk down to the ground as they flooded her mind. They were here to take them out, they had orders. "Ahhh"

"Key," said Luka glancing back at her. He wanted to help her but kept his hand up. The soldiers filled the rooms pointing their guns at him and Keyoko. Luka quickly used his magnetism but none of the guns came to him. He realized they were made of plastic. Someone knew about his abilities. Of course Keyoko had said Jeza was back. She must have told them…He had a bad feeling about this but still had to try... He shifted his gaze. "Please, don't shoot, we're not your enemy. We're friends of Jezza!"

Keyoko's mind rattled with the soldiers focus. They were all waiting on orders from Greegis Rogers. Rogers? Was he related to Jeza wasn't her name something...something. Keyoko painfully rubbed her head, finding it hard to focus.

A moment later, a man entered the room. Luka knew at once he was in charge, the way the soldiers side eyed him and all the awards on his uniform. Luka tried to explain. "Please, the people we just killed are the ones who took over your base. They're very dangerous!"

"I know," said Greegis Rogers. "Believe me, I know just how dangerous they are,"

Somehow that didn't bring Luka comfort, before Luka and Keyoko could do anything. Greegis

raised his hand and gave the kill order. The men opened fire on then, barraging them with bullets. Both of them were instantly killed.

When their deaths were confirmed Greegis Rogers ordered the soldiers out. He looked down at all the dead bodies and then got on his radio and quickly confirmed the situation. "Hostiles have been eliminated." A second later, a tear in space opened up. A beautiful young man stepped into the room. He looked about and said, "My, my, this is a mess."

"I'm sorry, Yawna" said Greegis Rogers. "We arrived too late,"

"I'm sure you did what you could," said Yawna waving him off. "I'm only here for-" The young man paused, seeing Urel on the floor, "Master!"

He quickly walked over to Urel's body. He delicately ran his hands over him, seeing where his throat had been cut, he shook with emotion. Another tear in space opened in the floor next to Urel. The young man gently pushed Urel into it, dropping him down onto a large bed. He closed the hole and stood. "Raoul, will come for the others, shortly, long before they'll recover. See he gets whatever he needs"

"Yes sir," said Greegis Rogers.

"Don't worry Avery," said Yawna, "Our deals still good, your little country and daughter should be safe...as long as you continue to obey"

Greegis Rogers nodded as another tear in space opened up. Yawna stepped through and it closed a moment later, leaving Greegis Rogers alone in the command room. He looked out at the death and destruction around him and shook his head. He knew he'd made the right decision but it was still hard.

Ever since the day his daughter had first told him about Urel and all that he had done. He knew a choice had to be made... Prepare to fight and risk losing or surrender and survive... Now that Urel was truly back, he knew things were going to become rather difficult...especially between him and Krissy. but no matter the consequences, he'd always do what was necessary, for her and for their people.

His radio went of, "Greegis Rogers,"

"Yes,"

"We've located your daughter."

"I'll be there shortly," he said taking one last look at the carnage. He let our a heavy sigh knowing there would be more to come.
