She didn't know what she was doing, this was crazy and yet here she was standing in front of his door. She reached her hand up to knock but pulled it back. She let out a heavy sigh and could see her breath in the night air. She bit her lip and closed her eyes thinking to herself. She knew what she wanted to say, she'd been over it a million times by now.
'I am so sorry for the other day. I know we're not soulmates. I know these feeling, these memories I have of you, are all in my head. I know there is no you and me. I know that! I know that I've put you through a lot and I'm sorry. I'll walk away. I'll let you go and never bother you again if that is what you want. I know it's the right thing to do.'
She scoffed at herself... the right thing to do. The right thing to do would be to turn around right now and walk away...to never bother him again. No! The right thing to do would have been to never start any of this, to have kept her thought and feeling to herself. She was far past doing the right thing. At this point she was just seeking forgiveness and ultimately...closure. She couldn't just leave things not like this. If this was the last time she'd ever see him, speak to him then she needed to...to what?
She opened her eyes and stepped back, again what was she doing here? She turned away from his door but didn't walk away. She just let out another heavy sigh and then turned back. She centered herself once more and raised her hand to knock but... didn't.
She just stood there, it was dark out now with the entire area blanked in a fine layer of snow. She stared at the light coming from the windows of his place and debated once more if she should do this. She glanced side to side looking up and down the row of houses as the street lights came on. She moved her hand closer to the door but pulled it back yet again. She looked down at her feet dropping her hand. How? How had things come to this? How had she let them get this far?
Charlotte had always been a strange one, believing in the mystic forces of the universe...fate. She believed in fate and soulmates. Her mother used to laugh at how much she bought into everything when she was a kid. Yet the moment she learned about soulmate, in her favorite childhood show, she was hooked. The idea that someone out there was meant just for her and she them, filled her heart with this overwhelming sense of joy.
She couldn't wait to grow up and meet her other half. She often wondered about them, who they might be, when they would meet and just where they were in the world right now. She wondered if they thought of her as she thought of them but most of all, she wondered how they would know each other from any other, when they finally met.
For years she clung to the hope of finding them and becoming complete. Admittedly in her teen years she'd been a bit too eager. She looked for her other in every one she met but alas time and time again, she was disappointed. Eventually her hope began to dwindle and she grew up. She accepted that soulmates might not exist after all. She lost her virginity and moved through several relationships. She figured one day she'd marry someone she got along with well enough and settle down.
Then she met him... She was on her lunch break and wanted to try something new for a change. There was some construction work on the route she usually took so she walked a block over and took different street. A certain smell had caught her attention, drawing her in. She saw a food truck and decided to give it a try.
There weren't any lines and they made everything so fast that she had time to sit down and eat it. The food truck had a little sitting area, some plastic table and chairs with umbrella's over them. The food was pretty good, good enough that she didn't notice someone else had sat down at the table with her. When she finished her food, she just looked up to see him sitting across from her.
"Good isn't it" he said with a big grin on his face.
There was something about that grin and his eyes. They reminded her of an ocean she caught herself staring and realizing she was being impolite. She quickly agreed, "Yes, better then I expected. It's my first time."
"I figured," he said, "I haven't seen you around here. I eat here nearly every day I love this place."They chuckled at one another but this strange sensation come over her. He quickly offered her some chips, "Since it's your first time here you have to try these, they're the best.'
She took a few and he ended up giving her the whole container. He seemed to really like the food. She thought it was cute. She supposed he did this with every knew face. When she was done she realized she was running late and dashed off to work. Things at work were busy and stressful, she didn't really think about the food or him for several weeks. When she tried it again he was already there. She sat across from him this time.
She doubted he'd remember her but he quickly lit up. "You're back again I see, be careful," he teased, "Or you'll get hooked."
He'd meant it as a joke but he'd been right she did get hooked just not on the food. Between mouthfuls of food they shared conversations, nothing major small little things. It took them another month before they exchanged names. His name was Erin. She began coming every day she worked. Sometimes she'd bring a bag lunch. Sometimes she'd skip lunch all together just enjoying the sound of his voice. She always felt like she was in a better mood after talking to him.
When she imagined falling in love, she always thought of fireworks bursting or some strong feeling like being struck by lightening but really it was more like slowly dipping your toe into a warm bath. She took comfort in his presence and he seemed to feel the same way about her. She began having these strange dreams and he was in them. They would dance and laugh together, sometimes they'd just be talking or going about their life. She came to the realization that they had been together before in another time and place, perhaps in another life.
One day, while they were eating, she asked him what his thoughts on soulmates were. Unlike her, he took no stalk in them. He believed people just met and got together. If it worked then they stayed together and if it didn't then they didn't, it was practical she supposed. She asked him about fate and again he didn't give it much thought as far as he was concerned, people made their own destinies.
She didn't share her suspicions with him that he and she might be soulmates. Instead she just enjoyed getting to know him. As the months passed her love for him only seemed to deepen and she learned all she could about him. He was a college professor at the campus not far away. He liked to read but was more of an outdoors men, fishing, hiking. He had three brothers, two older one younger. Sometimes she'd take a longer lunch or find herself walking around the campus on her days off or hoping to run into him. A few times she ran into him on his way to the food truck and they'd walk together. Eventually she asked him to a movie they both wanted to see. He declined and it was then that she learned he was married...happily so.
He suggested his wife might not like it but they could still eat together, he considered her a friend. She just kept eating and smiling but it was a crushing blow. She didn't go back to the food truck for over a week. She didn't want anything to do with it or him feeling heart broken. After a while she came to her senses and realized how silly she was being. He'd done nothing wrong. She had just assumed he was single, even then, if he was, she barely knew him and had "fallen in love with him." It was crazy! If anyone was at fault here it was her. He'd just been friendly and she'd made all these assumptions, made this into more then it was.
She got over herself and went back to the food truck but...he wasn't there. She ate and thought nothing of it at first but after a few days of him still not showing, she began to worry. She asked the food truck owner and he agreed it was unusual for Erin. She decided to go to the campus and ask around. She didn't know his last name but was able to find out he'd been on leave. She wondered what had happened to him. She knew it was none of her business but she kept coming back to the food truck, hoping to see him again.
Almost a month passed, then one day as she was leaving the food truck, he was walking up to it. She turned to greet him and their eyes locked. She watched him clutch his chest and crumple to the ground. She realized, he was heaving a heart attack! She quickly called for help and they took him away.
For weeks she didn't hear anything. She left a message at his school. He'd said they were friends right so it should be okay. Eventually he came back to the food truck but didn't look good. She asked what had happened. He said he hadn't been feeling well and then on the day he saw her he had a heart attack. They'd run some tests on him and found out he needed a new heart.
When she realized he might die she didn't handle it well. She told him everything! She didn't mean to but she had fallen in love with him and thought they were soulmates. She thought about him all the time and even had these strange dreams about him. Only she realized these dreams were memories from past lives they had shared. He just looked at her bewildered as she went on and on. He no doubt thought she was crazy and she was. All of it sounded so bad, saying it out loud, she shut up and waited for him to respond
When he managed to collect his thoughts, he once again told her he was married then got up from their table and walked away. She didn't see him again and realized how horrible she'd been. He'd considered her friend and she'd shit her feelings onto him. He might die with her having been a complete nut case to him. What she should have said was 'I'm sorry about your heart. I hope you find a new one and I wish you luck." That WOULD HAVE BEEN fucking reasonable.
She kept coming back to the food truck but he was never there. She left messages with the owner but Erin never got back to her. She doubted he ever wanted to see here again but she had to. She had to see him one last time to make things right and apologize...to say a proper goodbye. By happen chance she went to the campus and managed to find his address. He didn't live very far away, it was within walking distance of her work.
So here she was standing outside his door like a fucking crazy stalker. She bit her lip going over it in her head once more. She'd apologize and make it clear she'd never bother him again...if that is what he wanted. She'd promise to stay away from his campus and the food truck so he'd never have to worry about running into her crazy ass. Then she'd say goodbye and just go far far...away. Maybe she'd get a new job, move or find some rock to hide under.
She let out heavy sigh, she felt so ashamed for what she had done and what she was about to do.
She shouldn't be bothering him, he had a fucking heart condition and with her luck, she'd knock and his wife would answer. Then what would she say-
She shook her head and hissed at herself, "Go just go!"
It was now or never, she couldn't stand out here all night. She was getting cold and someone was bound to notice her eventually. She took a deep breath and went to knock but before she could the door opened. Her eyes went wide as his gaze fell upon her. His face immediately twisted in frustration.
She placed her chilled hand on the door and said, "Wait! Please! Just listen to me!"
He let out a heavy sigh but didn't shut the door. She stumbled over herself, "I...I wanted to say I'm sorry for everything. I know you don't know me and the other day I must have seemed totally insane. I know that! I mean it's crazy to think you and I knew each other from other lives...if other lives were even a thing."
He opened his mouth to speak and she quickly rattled on, "Anyway, I just didn't want things to end like that. I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I hope you find a new heart and get better."
He closed his mouth then let out another heavy sign and nodded, "Okay thanks."
His eyes were cold to her, clearly he held nothing but disdain for her now. She pulled back and knew this was it. She should turn around and go but her heart was suddenly pounding in her chest. Her mind was racing, dreading that this really might be their last conversation. Their last chance to realize who they were...Who they were? What was she thinking? She wasn't...
She furrowed her brow and asked "Do you really feel nothing for me?
"What," he said looking at her confused.
She realized she'd fucked up her apology... everything she was trying to do went out the window. If she was gonna be crazy might as well go all out...right. I mean here she was already, "Can you honestly look into my eyes and truly tell me you never, in all the time we've known each other, felt anything for me in the slightest. If you can truly tell me you feel nothing for me. I'll leave you alone but if there is even a chance that you feel something, some shred of recollection, some hint of a feeling you can't explain then pl-
"Is someone at the door?" Charlotte heard a woman speak from within the house. She assumed this was his wife and looked passed Erin, wanting to get a glance at her. She wanted to see the woman who had claimed his heart and much to her horror she looked pregnant.
"Oh," Charlotte said like a deflating balloon.
GREAT! This was just great! Charlotte had never fucked up more in her life! Here she was insane as ever, standing on the doorstep of a married man that was also to be a father, pleading for him to know her and love her. WHAT ON EARTH WAS SHE THINKING! What did she expect to accomplish here. She felt like a complete mental cas-
"I don't love you." he spoke softly, pulling her from her thoughts. "I'm not your soulmate. I think you're crazy and need to get some serious help. Now please leave me and my family alone."
He said it so quietly and calmly. She quickly realizing he was speaking softly so that his wife, the woman he loved and the mother of his child, wouldn't hear. His eyes had shifted from frustration to disgust, like a raging ocean about to boil over. Her eyes watered as she pulled her hand from the door. She looked away from him ready to go find that rock to hide under. Her eyes watered as she turned her back to him and stumbled down the fist step of his cement porch. With the ice and snow, she nearly slipped but caught herself.
Her chest ached as her mind filled with images of another time and place. She found herself wandering though a golden field, overlooking a beach. The wind whipped through the field and soothed her aching heart. A tear fell from her cheek as she looked out at a stunning sunset. She'd seen so many by now. It was usually around this time...in the quietness of the day, that she thought of him...of her love...Luka.
Charlotte's eyes lit up as she took another step down Erin's stairs. She recalled his name...YES! His true name, the one he had chosen to keep throughout time. He was Luka and something like this had happened before. She was drawn back to the golden field and recalled he had chosen another over her. She told herself he was happy and to let him be...let him be happy while he still could be. She felt there was something more going on, some dar cloud that hung over each of their lives…some curse.
She dropped down another step...yes this...THIS was a curse to be reborn and forget who they were time and time again. Luka didn't remember her, remember them and all they had been through in that life either. It hurt to walk away from him, knowing what she knew but she had to respect his wishes as he had for her when this happened.
Tears streamed down Charlotte's cheeks as she dropped down another step. She recalled walking through the golden field, knowing one day he'd remember who he was...who she was and they were. He'd seek her out and she'd be ready...she'd be right here waiting. She nodded to herself deciding to set down roots right then and there and she had. She built herself a little place...her own piece of mind and one day many years later, when his love had grown old and passed away, he returned to her. She saw herself standing in the field, looking out into the distance as he came over the hill and her heart surged with such joy.
Charlotte reached the bottom of the stairs. This was crazy! All of this was so fucking crazy! She seriously did need to get some help. This...all of this was just in her head yet in her heart she knew that wasn't true. No matter how impossible it all seemed, these memories, this undeniable feeling she had for him, it was all real. She began to feel caught up in some infinite web and struggled to make sense of it all, this conflict between her head and her heart. She felt torn...
His wife called out to him, "Who was that?"
"No one," he said gruffly, "She is leaving."
She was leaving...had left before. She bit her lip nearly breaking the skin as her emotions flowed through her. She turned back to him and their eyes locked as she saw he'd move to the top of the steps. He was barefoot but seemed determined to see her off and make sure she left. When she'd come here she vowed this would be it…the end of this nonsense one way or another and it was. This might be the last time she saw him in this life.
Her voice cracked with emotion as she said, "I'm sorry Luka." She called him by his true name now. It mattered not if he remembered. He'd no doubt chalk it up as more crazy on her part, "I won't bother you again...be happy."
It was as much of a goodbye as she could manage right now. She recalled she never liked parting from him. It always killed her inside but sometimes when you loved someone you had to let them go, for them and for yourself. She let her gaze fall from his and moved to the sidewalk. She wanted to burst into a run but kept to a decent pace. She done what she needed to, it was over now and there was no need to rush. She'd probably walk around for a while until she got cold. Then she'd get drunk and try to bury her heartache. In the morning she'd try to make some sense of all this and move on with her life as best she-
She heard his wife call out, "What are you doing?"
She thought it was directed at her that his wife had realized Charlotte had been confessing to her husband. She pushed herself to keep going, to just walk away, she quickened her pace and then heard him call out. "WAIT!"
She stopped and turned round at the sound of his voice. She saw him at the bottom of his stairs. He looked bewildered now as if he didn't know what he was doing. His eyes softened when they met hers once more. It made her heart leap as he called. "Key...Keyoko."
She gasped recalling that was her true name. He...did he remember? It wasn't just her...it wasn't just in her head. Her eyes lit up as she watched him look at her, like in her dreams. She could see it on his face, some semblance of familiarity, he took a step toward her and then his wife called out to him.
"ERIN! What are you doing? Who is this woman?"
He paused and seemed suddenly confused. He looked down, then to his wife as she'd stepped outside, also barefoot. He looked back at Charlotte then furrowed his brow and said, "No one, she's no one go back inside before you get cold." Annoyed, he turned from Charlotte and gesturing for his wife to go back inside as he climbed up his steps. Charlotte let out a cold breath wondering what was happening. Had it only been a momentary-
Erin suddenly clutched his chest pausing at the top of his stairs. Charlotte watched as he gasped for air, then collapsed falling backwards down the stairs. His wife screamed from the doorway as he landed on the sidewalk. She called out to him as she rushed to his side. Charlotte didn't know what she should do! She wanted to rush to him but wasn't sure he wanted her to. Should she get help?
He was still conscious on the ground, clutching his chest as he struggled to breath. "Your heart! Is it your heart?" his wife frantically called.
He just nodded, his wife got up and rushed back inside. Charlotte just stood there, again she didn't know what to do. All of this felt like it was her fault. She'd pushed him, knowing he had heart issues. He looked at her and reached out for her. She rushed to him and could tell he was in a lot of pain. His heart couldn't take it and was clearly giving out again. Charlotte frantically ran her hands over him wondering if there was anything she could do for him.
He took hold of her arm and gasped. "Don't…don't go! Don't leave me!" His eyes were glossy like he was somewhere else.
Did he know it was her or think she was his wife? Either way, she grasped hold of the sides of his face, getting his attention and promised "I wont leave you! I'm right here! I'm right here!"
He seemed to take some comfort in her words. She took hold of his hand giving it a good squeeze and he squeezed it back. Instinctively she pressed her forehead to his and for a moment she could feel their connection stronger then ever. Their hearts beat as one and nothing else existed outside their eternal love.
She didn't know how much time passed but someone suddenly grasping hold of her, pulling her away from him. She heard sirens, an ambulance, a woman, his wife screaming at her, at the situation. Right for a moment she'd forgotten where she was. She was pulled back to the present as his wife pushed her away. Luka...Erin looked to his wife and then to Charlotte. He face was twisted in agony. She couldn't be sure if it was his heart attack or his sudden recollection and ultimate realization.
The ambulance soon arrived and EMT's rushed to him. She was pushed back even farther as they moved him to a gurney. He kept his eyes locked on hers, even thought his wife was frantic at his side. She pulled on him and he furrowed his brow. He looked to his wife then back to Charlotte, he seemed confused perhaps conflicted. He reached out for her and she reached back to him. She wanted to go to him, go with him but a moment later the ambulance doors closed and they quickly sped off leaving her behind.
She stood there, taking in everything that had just happened. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she found herself overwhelmed. She looked up at the night sky and saw the first stars begin to shine as the snow continued to float down. She closed her eyes uncertain of everything but determined to see it through. It wasn't just her now. What were the chances of two people being crazy. She had no idea where they were taking him but she'd find him and see what he wanted to do now. Would his decision still be the same? Would he want her to walk away or ask her to stay.

Erin couldn't catch his breath. He felt like something heavy was bearing down on his chest. He dropped his outstretched hand as he began to feel light headed. He found it hard to focus as his eyes rolled back in his head and he passed out. He found himself drifting neither here nor there. He had no idea what was going on. He couldn't recall anything beyond this moment.
Flashes of something lit up his mind. He saw glimmers of things he should know but it all felt so foreign to him. He was confused...frustrated. He tried to make sense of anything as he found himself drifting deeper and deeper. A bright light suddenly blinded him and he found himself standing outside waiting in a line.
He furrowed his brow even more confused. He looked around and saw he was at some sort of amusement park. It was night and there were lights everywhere. Someone held his hand, he felt them give it a squeeze and he squeezed it back. The woman holing his hand turned to face him not letting go of his hand. She smiled up at him, she was young maybe late teens early twenties. Her mouth moved but she didn't say anything.
It took him a moment but he realized she was singing along to some music that was playing nearby. He could hear the melody but couldn't make out the words. The woman began to dance with him as he stood still. She lifted his arm up above her head and spun around like they were dancing but he was just standing still, watching her.
She looked up at him with this smile on her face and light in her eyes. She was so happy she almost seem to glow. It was clear she was in love with him but who was she? This wasn't his wife...Wife? Wait was he married? He didn't know. He was confused as the girl just kept dancing and singing along to the music. He found himself fond of her even though he didn't know who she was or maybe he did. Yes, he felt this strange connection to her.
He saw flashes of them kissing, laying in bed, watching fireworks. He had known her for a while. She was his best friend, no more then that were friends but also lovers. Yes boyfriend and girlfriend, he recalled giving her his jacket when she got cold. She laughed and swayed moving from side to side as the line began to move. He pointed out it was moving and she quickly turned round. It was finally their turn to get on the ride. She rushed up some metal stairs and got into a seat on the roller coaster.
Once she'd buckled herself in, she reached out to him and for a moment he lost himself. He didn't care that he didn't know what was going on. He just took a seat on the coaster next to her, buckled himself in and held her hand. After a few seconds a metal bar came down resting on their laps. The coaster started moving and the girl laughed excitedly. She was so happy he couldn't help but laugh along with her.
The coaster began to slowly climb and she squeezed his hand tightly as they neared the top. He squeezed it back and they locked eyes. They didn't look away from each other even when they reached the top and the coaster plunged down. The wind rushed through their hair and he felt this lightness in his chest as they were tossed and turned about on the ride.
She kept laughing and screaming with joy and he couldn't help but think how much he loved her. How much he- For a second he saw a flash of something, Charlotte was holding the sides of his face. "I wont leave you! I'm right here! I'm right here!"
The girl on the coaster squeezed his hand and he looked at her strangely. Charlotte, why was he thinking of Charlotte? Was this girl Charlotte? No... she didn't look like her, he didn't understand and yet- He felt a surge of electricity tear through him and gasped for air opening his eye. He was suddenly no longer on the roller coaster. He was in the back of an ambulance and they had paddles on his chest. He felt it again this surge of electricity.
"I've got a rhythm!" an EMT called.
"Welcome back Mr. Darrow."
"ERIN! OH ERIN!" He suddenly felt a hand on his cheek and saw his wife leaning over him.
His wife...right he was married, Stacy. Everything came flooding back to him, his life, his wife…Charlotte and the events of the last few minutes. He knew what was going on now but felt more confused then ever, just what was happening to him. Was this a side effect of everything going on with his heart...or something more.

It had been a slow but officiant day for the most part. All of his surgeries had gone as expected, however toward the end of his shift, one of his patients was brought in with a heart attack. They'd flat lined in the ambulance and the EMT'S had gotten them back only to have them flat line three more times in the hospital. He was able to get the patient back and put them on an LVAD. Well into overtime the patient was stable now but his pregnant wife was a mess.
It took him nearly twenty minutes to calm her down, then he had to explain what he'd done nearly three times before she got it. He assured her as he did all patient's families that her husband was in good hands. They would adjust his medication and monitor him for a few days and depending on how that went they'd be able to release him with various check ups until a new heart could be acquired.
The wife didn't take the news well. She broke down yet again saying he'd been doing so well but some woman had set him off. Her husband had told her some woman had been bothering him, stalking and harassing him. She was sure it was the same woman who'd come to her house that night. He set her up with a social worker, who would help her with the police and possibly a restraining order but was finally able to step away.
He'd already pushed back his dinner reservation and was almost certain he was going to have to cancel but found he still had time. He checked on some notes and took a quick shower. On his way out of the hospital he was paged. One of his patience had run out of their medication. He wrote a quick prescription and dropped it off at the front desk. As he was headed to the door a woman caught his attention.
She seemed upset pacing back and forth rubbing her hands together. He paused just watching her for a moment. There was something about her that just drew him in. Even in her panicked state, she looked rather alluring. She almost seemed to have this glow. He watched her go up to the front desk and plead.
"Please, if I could just know if he's okay!"
"I'm sorry mam but I can't give you any information, if you're not family." said the receptionist.
"I know but were, uh close friends."
He ran a tongue across his teeth knowing he shouldn't bother but found himself stepping up to the front desk, "Can I help?"
The woman turned to him and struck him with the biggest, most beautiful eyes he'd ever seen. He felt his heart quicken and his loins swell. No one had ever affected him like this. He put the charm on thick, "I'm a doctor here. I might be able to assist." He gave her a dazzling smile with his perfect teeth but it was clearly lost on her as her eyes shifted from side to side. She wasn't even looking at him. He found himself mildly annoyed but didn't show it.
"Uh a man was brought in a few hours ago-,"
"I'm sorry Dr. Alldon but I've already told her, if she's not family I can't give information." said the receptionist.
"Yes I know," said the woman upset. "But I just- Can't you just tell me if he is alive or dead?"
"Tell you what? Why don't you tell me his name and I'll see if I can ask the family or the patient, if they wish to disclose any information." He put his hand on her arm to assure her as he often did with patients and their families. Yet she didn't take to it, she pulled away and looked at him strangely.
Again he found himself annoyed but it was quickly washed away when he got a sudden whiff of her scent. His heart nearly exploded. He had no idea who this woman was but-
"THAT'S HER! THAT'S THE WOMAN!" A woman screamed
He turned to see his patients pregnant wife, with the social worker he'd set her up with. She was frantically pointing at the woman who'd caught his attention. He quickly realized this enchanting woman was the "Stalker" she'd refereed to...surely not.
The enchanting woman quickly stumbled back "I'm sorry! I just want to know if he's okay,"
"IF HE'S OKAY! YOU NEARLY KILLED HIM!" she screamed, "I WANT HER ARRESTED!"
The pregnant woman clutched her stomach then and looked like she might have set herself off. Perhaps an early labor, he mused, he glanced at her but kept his eyes fixated on the enchanting woman. He could see she was scared of being arrested and this only seemed to excite him more. Without warning she turned and rushed off. He ran after her and grasped hold of her arm in the parking lot.
"Please," she pleaded trying to break free, "I didn't mean any harm! Please don't arrest me!"
"Do I look like the police." he snapped, not letting her go. He yanking her along. "If you want to know how Erin is doing, I'll tell you but you must come with me."
"Do you know Erin?" she asked perking up.
"I should, he's my patient and I just saved his life."
"You did," she said.
He looked back at her expecting hero worship but instead she just burst into tears of relief. She covering her mouth with her free hand but allowed him to pull her along. He got her in his car easily enough and they were driving a good five minutes before she seemed to realize.
"Wait uh...where are we going?"
"I don't know about you but I'm hungry. I figured you and I could get something to eat and discuss what's going on."
"What's going on." she repeated looking sullen. She sighed then closed her eyes and mumbled "I'm losing my mind."
He gently moved his hand, stroking a piece of hair back behind her ear that had fallen in front of her face. She didn't even notice she was so caught up in her thoughts. He smiled at her, thinking how delightfully unexpected this was. He'd considered picking someone up for dinner from his little black book but here she was. He had no idea who she was but she seemed to be the girl of his dreams. His smile grew even wider as she opened her eyes and looked at him.
He rested his hand on top of hers and insisted, "Tell me about it?"
